PAUL MILNER'S Books.........Yippee!!

Yes was Great! finding these gems!!

To some these books wouldn't be all that interesting or important right?

BUT to us they are a little like a lifeline to the past........a way of finding who is who! and those unique records to add to our family tree........and it was not until we went on the genealogy cruise last February and listened to an amazing "lecturer" and found out Paul Milner co-wrote these two books.........full of the most valuable information people like us would need............But they were out of print Paul told us!!!!!

Well that would not stop me, It has taken me since the middle of Feb until today to get them both........We are so excited!!!!!!! Thank you Paul for telling us about your books they may not be new but they are wonderful! And now they are mine!!!!!!

With the winter season coming on here and a huge stack of fire wood we look forward to sitting by our open fire and read every word of these great books.

"Discovering your English Ancestors"

England for Rob!!

And "Discovering your Scottish Ancestors"

YES INTERNATIONAL WOMANS DAY!

"INTERNATIONAL WOMAN'S DAY TODAY"

Today is International Woman's day.....and being a genealogy buff!!! what better way to share an old photo of my family tree then on this wonderful day..........woman of the world both from the past and into the future are the life of any family, and here are mine.my grandfathers mother (my great gran) Auntie Grew my grand fathers sister, Bertha Russell my great gran on my grandmothers side, my Mum who is 80 this year in her arms, Audrey, Joan and Marjorie (cousins)......and the men as well but some of the ladies I love.

There are Many, Many more woman in my family, like the milk maids that came to S.Aust in 1839, and their mother who brought herself along with her husband and 8 children only to see her husband and two of her children die before herself in 1840......leaving those to survive on their own, Or the Great gran I never knew who was forced to give my grandmother up to be taken in by a beautiful German family in Truro, they are all international woman of the world........like my sisters, and sisters in law, and my beautiful daughters and their daughters......this family tree will continue to grow and with it the strength of our woman in various rolls be they as in the past.....follow their husbands to a distant land, or work the fields as good as any man could, or struggling to keep their family safe while their men during the depression walk for days and days looking for work.

Every woman in every part of this globe we call earth rejoice for we "ARE WOMAN OF THE INTERNATIONAL WORLD"

this is my day humbled by others - happy to know them all!

Paul Milner in Melbourne......great news!

Yes another wonderful day learning SO MUCH MORE!!! about tracing the family tree.

I know I can hear you saying enough already!!!
But there is so much to learn and to once again have the opportunity to hear Paul Milner speak was something Rob and I were not going to miss.
Our friend had booked in a week ago so off the three of us went....Now you all know we live in Central Victoria,a long trip to the city, but what we did not know was that the traffic and the road works would have us arrive at the venue at about 9.15am after leaving home at 6.45.....But so worth it for any geno buff!

Melbourne was the last stop on the Genealogy seminar tour for Paul so we simply had to be there. Not only to hear his terrific lectures again (4 of the best!) but also to show our support for this great man who came from America to give us all so much information to better our trees and to help find information in corners of the past we would never have looked before. Paul as you know, along with other fantastic speakers were on the cruise so this event today was a little icing on the cake for us. we were so pleased we went.

Also could not make another comment until We thank this very special man as well. He has done a great job in putting together all these events So thank you so much Alan.

And being the winner today of a voucher from http://www.gould.com.au
I am sure I will enjoy contacting those on the website after I make a decision on just what I want with my winning ticket.....thank you again so much to all.

The Celtic club was a hive of activity today with the seminar in thier upstairs rooms. It was quite warm but not enough to make you want to miss a moment of the day. So from 9.15am until late in the afternoon, wild horses would not have been able to drag us out of this historic building in Queen street Melbourne.
And with parking at the Vic market only moments away from the Celtic club we were in the perfect spot.

Even if our car was parked on the remains of over 9000 deceased persons who were buried there in the very early 1800's when it was the Old Melbourne Cemetery which was closed to become the biggest open air market in the southern hemisphere (who would do that??).......but that is another story for another day.

So here we are about to listen to our last lecture before Paul returns to USA I am sure, and Alan starts puts together another fantastic genealogical cruise,
so it is simply not goodbye but even simpler "As my old Scottish gran would say - Until we meet again"

But the last words today have to come from my darling Husband Rob!

"That was a few weeks darling we will take with us all the rest of our days! because it is going to take all the rest of our days to finish "our family trees" now we have so many leads to follow!!!

And that is so true! Husband.

This was my Monday! TRULY hope yours was as much fun as mine!

Unlock the past cruise (AMAZING!)

YES! AMAZING!
THE WHOLE EVENT!
THE SHIP! (Voyager of the seas!)
THE MEALS!
THE LECTURES!
THE PEOPLE!
THE SHIPS STAFF!
THE FUN ON THE SHIP!
THE WALKS!
THE WHOLE EVENT!
AND
THE GENEALOGY!

FROM BEGINNING TO END!

The conference rooms we all knew very well by the end of the cruise.
But we came out of here at the end with amazing knowledge and help.

Just look at the food art! we found as we made our selections for lunch
the choices were never ending!

There were many places to "check out" and lots and lots of fun things to do.

This car was in the "main street" level 5 of the ship and it was like walking down a beautiful street paved with tiles and with lots of shops and places to sit and enjoy the passing views and a little people watching. Rob could have easily tried to pocket this car!
but I said no! lol lol lol lol

Shauna Hicks! an amazing lady who has so much to share with others about finding your family and ways to do it that you would never think to do!
We loved her talks and have taken from them so much information - it will be hard to know were to start putting it into our trees........but we will!

Paul Milner, another speaker from "far off places" - WAS AMAZING! he shared with us SO MUCH it was simply FNTASTIC!!! I think the light bulb came on in my head after his second lecture and I was filling up with ideas faster then I knew.
I would listen to Paul over and over again! a very special person who would be responsible for family trees all over the world that are filled with wonderful information that would otherwise stay locked away forever.

Looking forward to his lecture in Melbourne on March 4th......be there if you love your family tree.

There were many others who gave talks and I will add them soon to my blog, they were all wonderful and filled the air with stories and so much information. I wanted to capture every moment and bottle it all for the future. (being a country girl who preserves lol lol)

There are so many more photos to share and so much to tell you all but there is a storm coming and I need to get off this computer.

This is my Thursday! after an AMAZING week! on the high seas!

"THE" BIG CRUISE!!!

As it says in "the Encyclopedia" "A pedicure is a way to improve the appearance of the feet" and that is so nice.

......BUT for me today it has made me feel taller, richer, happier, and my feet are beautiful!!! NOW I AM READY to step onto that huge ship one little red toe after another.........:)

For those of you who do not know about "OUR TRIP" we are taking a genecruise on the
"VOYAGER OF THE SEA"

There will be many genealogy buffs like ourselves who are looking forward to hearing amazing speakers, and having someone other then each other to talk to to try and break down some brick walls.

I love to chase the ladies of the families and that is always not so easy when they change their names so lets hope I find some easy hints as to how to do that.
Tell you all about it when we return!!

ho! ho! its off to sea we go!!

Pennyweight Flat Cemetery

We have been to this beautiful but very sad place today.

Life on the diggings was hard, especially for little children. Between 1852 & 1857, nearly 200 children were buried in shallow graves at Pennyweight Flat Cemetery. Reasons why so many children died includeD an inadequate water, poor diet, lack of sanitation, and the spread of diseases like typhoid and whooping cough and the constant dangers of living in close proximity to deep holes.

This is my Wednesday - just before the cruise of a life time!!!
see you all when my darling Rob and I get home!
